The Great Cyber Security Buy-in

Whether you are a London based multinational corporation or an emerging business with ambitions for the future, cyber security is becoming an increasingly prevalent forethought for management teams and CEO’s throughout the capital. London IT Support and security management has become a crucial factor in the commercial strategies of any company with online aspirations and targeted markets.

The government announced in late 2010 that despite rolling cutbacks across other sectors, the nation’s cyber defence network would be granted an additional £650 million; outlining the importance of online security. In the last few weeks BAE systems, the world’s largest defence contractor, whose headquarters lay in Farnborough just outside of Greater London have been bolstering their own cyber security complex with the acquisition of several smaller international firms. In a proposed buy out BAE representatives have stated that they will pay £183 million for Irish financial crime and compliance software specialists Norkom, as well as Danish outfit ETI A/S; L1 Identity Solutions and Intelligence Services Group in America and Australian based stratsec.net. BAE are only one in a continued stream of corporations who have become extremely preoccupied in their own online defence capabilities; 2011 therefore looks set to be the year of the great cyber security buy in.

German enterprise software provider SAP have also striven to expand their security portfolio recently with the attainment of Swiss business Secude, when asked to identify the company’s motivations, a spokesperson for SAP stated that,
“Customers face threats to the integrity and security of their business scenarios as a result of increased cyber crime and owing to targeted attacks on business data from hackers.”

On an international and national level it is crucial to protect your business with a robust security set up. Chaos was caused by the ‘Operation Payback’ attacks which targeted financial services such as PayPal, MasterCard, Visa and online marketplace Amazon late in 2010 and news has also recently emerged that UK cosmetics company LUSH has suffered continued targeted attacks by hackers trying to access account member payment card details.

The best way to prevent such attacks is to initiate a professional and consistent security network serviced and maintained by experienced IT professionals.
